This EMDRIA-approved EMDR Training is facilitated by experienced professionals, including EMDRIA-Approved Consultants, Trainers, and Certified EMDR Therapists. Practicum sessions and consultations may also be supported by EMDRIA-Approved Consultants or Consultants-in-Training.

Cascading Hope, PLLC assumes full responsibility for this training and its content, ensuring compliance with all EMDRIA standards and requirements.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based treatment proven effective in healing PTSD and trauma. This EMDRIA-approved Basic Training course provides comprehensive preparation for therapists to integrate EMDR therapy into their practice.

EMDR Basic Training Learning Objectives

Develop a comprehensive understanding – Gain a thorough understanding of the theory, protocols, and procedures specific to EMDR therapy.

Implement the 8 phases of EMDR – Build the skills necessary to effectively integrate the 8 phases of EMDR into therapeutic practices.

Enhance clinical assessment and safety – Strengthen clinical assessment techniques and safety protocols to ensure ethical and effective application of EMDR therapy.

Apply protocol modifications for diverse populations – Learn to adapt EMDR protocols for special populations, including clients with PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety, addictions, histories of sexual assault, children, and more.

Requirements and Eligability

 Practicum Requirement

As part of the training, participants are required to complete up to 12 hours of practicum. This includes experience as both a therapist and a client. All personal information shared during the practicum is treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Virtual Course Format
The training is conducted live, requiring active participation and interaction with the training group throughout the course.

Completion Timeline
To successfully complete the program, trainees must fulfill all requirements within 12 months of the start date.

To be eligible for EMDRIA’s Basic Training, therapists must meet the minimum requirements at the time of registration. Payment is due at registration.

Eligibility is determined based on current licensure and graduate education status.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

At the time of registration, therapist must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • A Masters or Doctoral Degree
  • Masters Level Student
  • Medical Professional 
  • Chemical Dependency Professional

Graduate Students

Second-year graduate students or those working towards licensure may seek special approval by contacting Misty White, LPC directly.

To qualify, they must provide the following:

Current Enrollment: Must be enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in one of the following mental health fields: Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychiatry, or Psychiatric Nursing.

  • Practicum/Internship: Must be participating in a practicum and/or internship under the direct supervision of a fully state-licensed mental health professional, and must be providing direct services to clients in the practicum setting.
  • Supervisor Information: Must provide the supervisor’s name, degree, license number, and a description of the coursework and experience that have prepared them for working with trauma.
  • Cascading Hope, PLLC reserves the right to cancel any registration and payment that does not meet the eligibility requirements and will notify the applicant promptly.

Other Eligible Professionals

  • Medical Professionals (e.g., nurses and physicians) are eligible if they possess a clinical Master’s or Doctoral degree and their primary specialty is in mental health.
  • Chemical Dependency Professionals with a Master’s degree or higher may also be eligible for this training.
  • Pastoral/Christian Counselors and Art/Music/Dance Therapists may be eligible if they can demonstrate sufficient clinical content on their Master’s-level transcripts. Prior approval is required for these professionals, and they must submit a written request with supporting documentation to Cascading Hope at cascadinghope@gmail.com.
 

Cascading Hope’s Basic Training and Schedule Format

Two intensive weekends of training, each spanning three days.

First Weekend (Days 1–3: Part 1)

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of EMDR therapy, including the 8 Phases of EMDR Treatment as a trauma-focused modality.
  • Participate in didactic lectures, live demonstrations, and video case studies.
  • Engage in interactive discussions on applying EMDR to children and other special populations.
  • Practical Application: Participants are required to begin practicing with clients after this weekend. These cases will be reviewed during group consultations scheduled between training weekends.

Second Weekend (Days 4–6: Part 2)

  • Review and deepen your understanding of EMDR therapy, focusing on modifications for complex trauma and dissociation.
  • Explore case presentations and participate in group discussions to integrate the 8 Phases of EMDR into clinical practice while adhering to protocol fidelity.
  • Receive support and guidance to enhance your skills and confidence in applying EMDR with diverse populations.

Attendance Requirements

  • Full attendance at all sessions is mandatory; no partial credit will be awarded.
  • For online participants, an EMDRIA-compliant quiz will follow the second weekend of training to confirm understanding and adherence to guidelines.

Group Consultations: 5 two-hour Session Requirement with Training

The cost of the 10 hours of EMDRIA-required consultations is included in this deluxe training package. These hours are scheduled throughout the training segments, and participants are expected to actively practice the skills learned during the course.

Certification Requirements

  • Attendance at all scheduled consultation hours is mandatory.
  • Participants who complete all training components and consultation hours will receive their Certificate of EMDR Training on the final day of the course.

Missed Consultation Hours

  • If you miss a consultation hour and the training team excuses your absence, you are responsible for arranging and covering the cost of a makeup session with an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant at their standard rate.
  • All requirements, including the 10 hours of consultation, must be completed within one year of the training start date to receive your certification.

Format

Group consultation sessions are available in-person or via teleconference for your convenience.

This structure ensures that participants meet the professional standards required for effective and ethical EMDR therapy practice.

Required Materials

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: Basic Principles Protocols, and Procedures, 3rd Edition by Francine Shapiro (Guilford Press) – Please bring this book to training. Required by EMDRIA.
  • EMDR Training Manual: All confirmed trainees will receive a copy of the Cascading Hope EMDRIA Approved manual – included in the cost of the training. A PDF version can be requested.

Registration

By registering and submitting payment for this training, all applicants agree to abide by the terms, policies, and conditions of the training.

All therapists participating in this training commit to conducting themselves in a professional, ethical, and culturally respectful manner.

Cascading Hope, PLLC reserves the right to remove any participant who fails to maintain professional, ethical, or culturally respectful behavior. In such cases, the participant’s registration will be canceled, and no refunds will be issued.

Payments and Cancellation Policy

Payments

  • Full payment is required at the time of registration unless alternate arrangements have been made directly with the trainer.
  • Payments can be made online via the website or by mailing a check to: Cascading Hope, PLLC, 8774 Yates Drive, Suite 305, Westminster, CO 80031

Cancellations

  • For EMDR Basic Training, Cascading Hope, PLLC offers:

    • A 50% refund if canceled up to two weeks prior to the training start date.

    • A full refund (minus a $75 registration fee) if canceled at least one month before the training start date.

  • After this two-week deadline, no refunds will be issued. However, registration may be transferred to another training course.

Recording Policy

Recording of video or audio during the training is strictly prohibited unless explicit permission is granted by the trainer and solely for learning purposes. Unauthorized recording is a violation of copyright laws and may result in the participant being asked to leave the course without completing it. In such cases, no refund will be provided.
